We are the Heslip Family, Paul & Rachel, Mark & families. For more than 40 years and two generations we have been farming on our family farm located at the northern end of the Hokonui Hills in Southland.

The farm itself is set in a valley on 2,300 acres of beautiful land with deep black soil with reliable rainfall and natural water sources. With careful cultivation, selected breeding programmes, wise use of natural fertilizer and a whole lot of hard work by all of the family, ‘Glen Affric’ as the farm is known, produces excellent pasture and therefore very high quality beef and lamb.

Farmgate Meats came about from people always commenting on how tender and tasty our meat is. We want to bring you the best meat that we can grow on our farm so that you can be confident you are buying top quality meat, guaranteeing flavour, tenderness and freshness. All the animals are grown on our farm! Isn’t it nice to know where your meat comes from?

The meat is processed locally where we can monitor and assist in the practices used. Our butcher loves what he does and this shows in the packaging and presentation of our meat.
